Code of Conduct for CIS 2024
Introduction: At CIS 2024, we are committed to creating a professional, respectful, and inclusive environment for everyone involved. This Code of Conduct outlines our expectations for participant behavior, as well as the consequences for unacceptable behavior. We invite all sponsors, speakers, attendees, volunteers, and other participants to help us realize a safe and positive conference experience for everyone.
The Quick Version: CIS 2024 is dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion, or technology choices. Harassment in any form is not tolerated. Inappropriate use of sexual language and imagery is not allowed in any conference venue, including talks, workshops, social events, and online media. Violation of these rules may result in sanctions or expulsion without a refund at the discretion of the conference organizers.
The Less Quick Version: Harassment includes, but is not limited to: offensive verbal comments or actions related to gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion, or technology choices; sexual images in public spaces; deliberate intimidation; stalking; following; harassing photography or recording; sustained disruption of talks or other events; inappropriate physical contact; and unwelcome sexual attention.
Participants asked to cease any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately. This applies equally to sponsors and exhibitors. The use of sexualized images, activities, or materials is not appropriate, nor is the use of sexualized clothing/uniforms/costumes by booth staff or volunteers.
If a participant engages in harassing behavior, CIS 2024 organizers may take any action deemed appropriate, including warning the offender or expelling them from the conference with no refund.
If you are being harassed, witness harassment, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of the conference staff immediately. Staff members can be identified by branded clothing and/or badges. They are trained to assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the conference
We will be happy to help participants contact hotel/venue security or local law enforcement, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to ensure they feel safe for the remainder of the event.
Conclusion: This Code of Conduct applies to all CIS 2024 conference-related spaces, including talks, workshops, social events, and online media. We value your participation and are dedicated to ensuring a safe, welcoming, and inclusive experience for everyone involved.
